After three tournaments, here are the standings in the Thinking Poker Home Game:
As you can see, winning a tournament is not essential to win the contest. Bond2King has never taken 1st, but he’s got a 2nd, a 3rd, and a 4th to his name, which is a pretty impressive achievement in its own right.
I know that we’ve got at least a few readers with little or no money on PokerStars, so the next tournament is going to be an 8-Game Freeroll. That’s just to say it’s a play-money buy-in, not that there’s anything added to the prizepool, though the results will still count towards league standings just like any other tournament.
I figured 8-Game would be a good choice for this since most people won’t be very familiar with all of the games and would probably prefer not to put up a lot of money to play anyway. Rest assured, though, the competition will still be vigorous! I’ve also adjusted the structure quite a bit since the Triple Stud debacle, so the idea is that most people should get to play one rotation of every game, and after that players should start dropping pretty quickly.
One other point to note: the start time is 17:00 ET, coinciding with the delayed start time of the Sunday Million, NOT 16:30 as it’s been in weeks past. We’ll return to 16:30 when the SM does, which will likely be next week.
If you’re not yet a member of the league, it’s free to join and play. Just search for Club ID 312467 in the PokerStars Home Games tab and enter Identification Code “foucault82” when prompted.
The player at the top of the leaderboard after ten tournaments will win a free “leakfinder” session review with yours truly recorded for publishing on Poker Savvy Plus, plus a free three-month subscription to Poker Savvy Plus. This freeroll will likely be the largest tournament yet, so even if you haven’t played any of the other events, a deep finish here could easily make you competitive in the rankings.
Just signed up…
Correction: the invitation code is “foucault”, which I got from your first Home Games post
Thanks.
