Edit: Changed to a better link for downloading.
From time to time I like to check in at the 2+2 Software Forum to see what kinds of software, mods, etc. are out there that could potentially enhance my playing experience. These cards have actually been around for a while, but I just saw them for the first time and fell in love:
They are so much easier to read quickly and at a glance, which is important for someone as prone to hand misreading as I am. Unfortunately, I don’t believe they are available for Poker Stars.
They are free to download here. All you have to do is extract the files and replace the “Cards” folder in the FTP Program Files with the one you downloaded. You might want to save the old ones in a new folder just in case you want to switch back at some point. Oh and make sure you have “Four-Color Deck” turned OFF- it took me a few minutes to figure out why the new cards were only showing up for two suits.
Have you ever tried the “hyper-simple” theme on stars? At least I think it’s called like this or something similar. It’s almost the same, with spades being black, clubs green, diamonds blue and hearts red and the face cards also only have one letter on them (iirc). I’ve been using that for quite some time now and I think it’s pretty good.
Yeah, that’s what I use on Stars. I like the phattylivers a little better though.
Ooh, thanks. Yeah, I misread hands like crazy. Hey, what’s your table theme right now? That looks clean without having that dealer chipstack thing (the one where you click, you are given the option to reload).
Actually that’s not my picture, it’s an example used by someone else in the 2+2 thread to demonstrate what the phattyliver cards look like. Sorry I can’t be of more help there.
Andrew,
I wasn’t able to figure out how to download that file from the linked site. I clicked the Download link and it just took me to another page where they are promoting a premium service.
Could you e-mail me the file?
E-mail sent.
Thanks Andrew.
I set that up and it worked great.
At first, it was a bit jarring to not see that actual suits, but I got used to it after a bit. It works pretty good with smaller table sizes.
The index seems a bit small for games like Draw and Stud with a lot of overlapping hole cards. And you wouldn’t see a lot of the color, either. Have you tried these on a stud or draw table? Do you remember how to play those games? 🙂
FTOPS starts in less than a week, so we’ll see how these cards perform….
Good question, though.
fyi- i think the small cost of downloading from reputable sites like http://www.tiltbuster.com easily outweigh the risk of downloading some kind of spyware or keystroke loggers that could give a hacker an easy entry into your online accounts.
Good point. I’m sure you’re right and I’m embarrassed to have included the link that I did. I wasn’t aware that they were available elsewhere.
yea just buy them at tiltbuster – they also include variants for plo / other games where cards overlap.
