I was a little surprised at how adamant Andrew was regarding the min bet on K66tt. I took a look at the solver to see how much of a mistake this. I ran 3 solves:
1. With both min bet and 1/4, hero’s actual size. PIO mixed, about 1/3 using hero’s size, 2/3 using the min bet.
2. A solve with just 1/4.
3. A solve with just min bet
Hero never used a bigger size, so simplifying the strategy seemed like a good idea.
Since the solver mixed in simulation #1, one might conclude that it doesn’t matter which size one uses. However, that is assuming we will choose the right bet sizes with all our range. Humans are much better suited to just going with 2 or 3.
Unsurprisingly 3, is better; I know Andrew and Carlos have looked at sims like this before. The question I really wanted to answer was ‘how much?’
The difference in EV for was about 12 chips. How much is 12 chips? It’s about 3BB/100, or in $ terms, if we assume that the starting stack was 30K about 60 cents.
