Just listened to this and I liked the hand against Galfond. What are your thoughts about a check-raise all in bluff against something like a 1/3 size value bet? Of course, the trouble with this reasoning is stacks may not allow for Phil to fold, plus he can bet a larger size which further discourages us to make that move.
Considering his hand looks a lot like 99-JJ and AK (AQs too?), I’m not sure what he does with this range if checked to. What do you think he would do? We have some show down value to chop or even win against parts of his range. But yeah, if he moves in, we have to fold. So your all-in bluff as a lead removes that option from him, and therefore is likely best. Nice hand.
Thanks for listening! I think you’ve at least started to answer your own question here. Among other things, I’d say there’s very little reason to expect a 1/3 pot bet from Phil. With the pot size being what it is, I’d expect him mostly to check or shove. What could he hope to accomplish by betting 99, or even JJ?
