With WCOOP still going on (at the time of recording), Nate and Andrew get together to answer some strategy questions from the mailbag.

Strategy
Blinds 300/600/75. Hero opens to 1500 UTG+1 with AA. Folds around to the villain, who flats on the button. Blinds fold. Pot is about 4500 with antes.
The Flop: KJT rainbow. Hero bets 1500, Villain raises to 4500, Hero calls.
The Turn: Pot is now 13500 and the turn is the rainbow 2. Hero checks, Villain bets 7500 with 17K behind, Hero?
Really appreciate both of your takes on defending against a Mississippi (button) straddle (something I’ve gone back and forth on a bunch trying to develop a comprehensive strategy). Nate’s point that you’re going to face a raise a lot (maybe 2/3 of the time full ring) is powerful imo, and has led to me tightening my ranges significantly. Andrew ‘ s point that hands like K9s make enticing limp- 3 bet candidates against wide raising ranges is something I hadn’t considered, as is the lower SPR minimizing domination issues somewhat.
Good stuff. Curious, would you guys advocate limping everything you play from either the sb or bb? Or are you bifurcating?
Good question! In theory we should probably be both raising and calling. In practice, there are a lot of games in which people will just ignore a SB or BB call in this spot and raise everything they’d usually raise. In such circumstances I like raising 0% and just having folding, limp-calling, and limp-reraising ranges.
Do you think it would be helpful to spend time discussing the methods you use to learn, record notes, etc? I guess I mean learning and business skills. Might be a good idea for when you have a group of the inner circle on with you.
Thanks you guys are amazing!
