Before Black Friday, Reid Young was one of the most successful no-limit hold ’em players on the internet. Now, he’s turning his attention to how the game is taught. In this interview he talks about his career, his new project, and the philosophy background he shares with Nate and Andrew. Plus, he sticks around for a strategy discussion about playing a big draw in a multi-way pot.

UTG+2 raises to 600, I’m next to act with Ks Qs and call, folds, button calls, SB folds, BB calls.
FLOP: Js 9s: 6s (pot 2500)
BB checks, utg+2 bets 600. I just call, button folds, BB raises to 2500 total, utg+2 tank calls, hero jams for 10,000 total.
Sorry dudes, I signed up for PokerSprout immediately when Reid mentioned it, so I didn’t know about the affiliate like at the time. 🙁

*Flop is wrong in the show notes
I signed up through the link. looking forward to checking out Reid’s site.
Reid and VegasMidas in the same team… what can you ask for more?
good stuff all. i would have never considered folding KQs to a random’s open at 55bb’s, let alone a recreational player. i considered raising even.
the potential to fold out Jx from button or the bb is a pretty big incentive to raise flop i agree.
one thing i’d push back on is that if i was to just call the second time around on the flop (for 2500) i don’t think i have enough equity to call off on the turn (pot of 10k, 7.5k back, so 30% breakeven). that was part of my rationale for pushing (and i think the comments about equity realization and the example from MoP apply here and were spot on).
Wow, was randomly browsing through poker blogs and stubled upon your podcast. Couldn’t be gladder 😀 Will follow every one now!
Have slowly (since Christmas) been working my way through your podcast list. By the time I got here (early june) the link to the site is missing. is there a stnadard time when you that them down.
