As you may remember from his latest appearance on the podcast, Gareth Chantler is now in charge of the Full Tilt Poker Blog. He’s done a bang-up job on the content, including an interview with me and a collaboration with Carlos Welch. Nate’s first appearance there was commenting, alongside Gareth, on the final table of the FTOPS 10-Game tournament, and they guys did an admirable job. Now they’re back with commentary on a 25-Game tournament which is just masterful. Nate must watch/listen to a lot of baseball, because he sounds like a professional announcer, transitioning seamlessly from describing the action to commenting on both broad strategy for games I’d never even heard of before to discussing strategic considerations of specific situations as they arise. I found it both educational and entertaining, and I highly recommend it.

Yeah, this was outstanding. The quick rotation of games make it mesmerizing to listen to the commentary, too. I can’t recommend this enough. Really looking forward to part II.
The second part will be out Tuesday, assuming I slap it all together in time.
Making shows like this very much incentives me to visit Nate in real life, since the ability to make such shows well is contingent on reading your partner, having them on your shoulder makes that seamless. But now that I am back in the 1st world maybe doing a video call would be possible and a decent supplement.
Hopefully we get to do it for miniFTOPS in January and don’t have to wait again until next FTOPS, because it was a lot of fun.
Yes, it would be even better to do these in person; it would keep me from stepping on your toes (so to speak) so often. And sitting side by side to talk poker is just plain fun. Perhaps this will sufficiently incentivize you to get to Boston!
Damn these were great. The 10 games stuff is just what the doctor ordered.
Mama why cant I play on Full Tilt anymore????
You’re too kind, Andrew. I can, however, confirm that I listen to a lot of baseball.
I very much enjoy this sort of work and am grateful for all the traffic that these posts get. It increases the chances I can do this sort of thing again. I’ll only get better at it.
This was great, however I wish you could have done it earlier in the tournament when there is a bit more play in the hands. Late in the tournament it often doesn’t seem to matter what the game is.
