Ballin’: I’m current on my way to the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, where I’ll be staying for eight nights and playing in the $10,000 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event.
Anti-Ballin’: I’m bringing a small pantry with me, because it kills me to pay $20 for a sandwich.
So wish me luck, and please be patient if the blog and Twitter feed are quiet. Historically the internet at Atlantis has been atrocious and expensive, so while I’ve pre-written a couple of posts, I may or may not be blogging from the Bahamas.
awesome – i remember your mini rant from the prior year of expensive sammy’s.
best of luck! both with poker and getting that bread to stay fresh.
Consider this benefit of your approach. By saving so much on your daily meals, you’ll have the bankroll to go ballin’ in the clubs if you so desire.
good luck
I think there are a couple places relatively cheap to eat within walking distance towards the bridge, but at least with your stash you don’t have to leave the complex.
GL GL GL! I’d use my “One Time” for the year on you but I’m playing in a tourney tomorrow and need to save it. 🙂
P.S. When are you most recent trips going to be posted?
Good Luck!! Can’t wait for the “What’s Your Play?” from this trip!
Heh. Your strategy brings back some memories. When I was a kid, my parents luckboxed into a great deal on a timeshare on a small island in the Bahamas, so we’d go on vacations that should have been way out of our budget. To keep things cheap, we’d bring a cooler full of food — enough to feed six people for a week.
I’ve got the resources now that I wouldn’t have to take such measures if I brought my kids down there, but I think I still would pack food like this. It just drives me nuts to pay $20 for a sammich.
Anyways — good luck! Do us proud!
I got your Nature’s Promise right here, bud.
