Edit: Oh snap! I just saw that Villain in this hand went on to win the tournament! And it was his second WCOOP bracelet. Congratulations 2FLY2TILT!
I skipped the PL Draw event because I don’t know how to play that game, and I registered three hours into the Triple Stud because I wanted to be fresh for the $1000 NLHE rather than frustrated from three hours of Stud. I won a nice pot almost immediately in Razz, but it was all downhill from there. I think this is pretty standard for people who know something about Razz, but it illustrated the problem with trying to bluff in this game:

There’s only so much you can get away with because the lowest two cards you are showing on board is an upper limit to how strong your hand can possibly be. That’s why it’s not necessarily a good idea to call with a K in the door even if A3 are your hole cards. I know I started with the better hand, so even if we both catch bad I’m going to keep calling. Even on the river he can’t possibly have better than a J, which there’s no way he’s value betting, so his betting range is 100% bluffs and the only question is how many of those bluffs my hand can beat. With a Q it’s a trivial call and I think the interesting question is how bad of a pair can I call with?
I don’t really know what happened in the 1K. I had chips for a while and then I didn’t. I posted two NHLE hands on 2p2, I guess because I’m a glutton for punishment, but neither was from a WCOOP (well one was a second chance). Would be interested to get your thoughts here or in the thread:
Underpair Facing Weird Flop Shove
Tomorrow morning is the Ante Up, probably my favorite WCOOP event. Let us gogogogo!
Oh and that horse I mentioned last night who was deep in the 6-Max Shootout? He got down to heads up at his third table, got all in preflop for a huge pot, and lost AK < AJ to bubble the final table. He would have like 90% of the chips if he won that pot, so that was tough to see. Mostly felt bad for him.
