I’m just a few days from being back in Canada and back on PokerStars and am starting to get pretty excited about the prospect, moreso now that the WCOOP tournaments are in the lobby and open for registration! Granted I had a few days to play in Montreal, but that was just a tease. I’m going to be in a town called Canmore, near Banff National Park, for at least a month, possibly two, and then it’s TBD after that.
Banff is a “sister park” to the US’ Glacier National Park in northern Montana which is where I was this time last year. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve been, and I’m really looking forward to seeing Canada’s counterpart. Also I believe that fellow Team Onliner Kevin “Wizard of Aaaahs” Thurman is going to be in the region as well. I met him briefly at Mohegan Sun and he seemed really cool, so hopefully I’ll have a chance to hang out with him a bit as well.
Of course the prospect of playing the World Championship of Online Poker is very exciting as well, especially since I had to miss the SCOOP, which is my all-time favorite. Anyway this is of course subject to all sorts of changes based on weather, how I do the day before, how I’m feeling, the state of my Stars bankroll, etc., but here’s what I’m likely to play:

- 9/4–14:00–WCOOP-03: $215 NL Hold’em

Making the start times more Euro-friendly was obviously the right move, but does make for some rough hours on the west coast of North America. There are a few tournies I’d enjoy that I’m skipping because they start at 3AM my time. Other than that it’s a good schedule for me, though, as I’d much rather play mornings than evenings and will have no problem waking up sharp to play 7 or 8 AM start times.
Let us gogogogogo!
Have I missed some essential post about your future plans Andrew? Are you moving to Canada or just making a long term visit/stay there?
Hey, a few months ago I was half thinking about throwing you an invite to come up this way knowing that you travel and like the outdoors. If you decide to spend a little extra time in the area, drop me a line. I’m in Edmonton, so 3.5 hours from Banff and Canmore.
To expand on that, I’d be thrilled to host you for a few days or more. Show you the area, have you as a special guest in my homegame, etc.
I appreciate the offer! I’m not 100% sure what our plans will be beyond this month, so I’ll keep this in mind and let you know if I might get out your way.
Absolutely – it’s a 100% genuine offer. We have room, I have a flexible work schedule, and high speed wireless! Only catch is that we’re out of town from September 22-27.
