Bluffs don’t have to be big. In fact, the smaller they are, the less they have to succeed to be profitable. The key is to know which kinds of hands you are trying to fold. In this case, Villain will have a lot of Ax and other unpaired hands in his range . Those hands probably won’t call a bet, but they sure as hell will win the pot if I check.
Obviously I have no delusions of making him fold KK. The beauty of this play is that he doesn’t need to.
Did you note that 75 is also the bottom of my range?
Thoughts on villain’s turn check?
Standard TAGfish. They kind of have to check hands like this since they have no double barreling range. If guys like this bet an overpair on the turn against a good player, they just fold out worse and get stacked by sets.
