I like PLO8 and know a bit about it, but I’m far from an expert. I also played the $100, in which I was surely a favorite, but the 1K had a surprisingly competent field (or maybe not so surprising- I mean it was a 1K). Not that there wasn’t any bad play, but I may well have been a dog to the field.
I decided that at least in the early stages of the tournament, I was going to limp in EP with anything I wanted to play. Villain here had been isolating me a lot, so I decided to check-raise him on this flop- not sure if that’s good or nto.

I’m pretty sure it would be better just to pot the turn than to check-raise, not that he’s folding this anyway, but it could get him off of high hands.
On this one, I tried check-raise a rivered nut-nut, but Villain did not oblige. I can’t imagine he was calling a bet either, though, so I think the plan is still fine.

Any thought to check-raising the turn on the second hand? You have got some ridiculous equity even if you are called. Not that he would have with that hand.
This might be NLHE thinking, but I feel like my hand has too much bluff-catching/showdown/implied odds potential to turn into a semi-bluff by raising the turn. I don’t think he’s folding many better hands, and I have virtually all of the draws dominated. Plus there’s the potential for him to make a lot of second-best hands that get at least quartered on the river.
That’s how I see it, but again, that’s quite possibly applying NLHE thinking to a game I’m notoriously bad at.
I don’t play much PLO8 either; my background is also NLHE. Just different than I would have played it, and I was curious why you played it that way. I was thinking you could get value out of worse draws, and potentially 2 streets of value if you both hit. I can’t comment on whether or not you are going to fold out better hands, since the stakes I do play are significantly smaller and people don’t ever fold. Perhaps a strong PLO8 player might fold better hands (2 pair, low end wraps, both w/o flush draws), but then again, they probably aren’t playing them to begin with.
I know people have complained about the icons/symbols before, so I just thought I’d say these new 4 color icons look beautiful :).
Also, (understanding that I’m just barely learning PLO, nevermind PLO8 :), I don’t understand the first pot. Are you both betting mainly for the LO? Or do you expect to scoop a lot of the time when you shove?
