Villain on my right is kind of a fish, his turn lead is definitely strong. The guy on my left is a pretty decent reg, a bit on the TAGgish side in general but has a propensity to play back at me. I think he dislikes me, I probably said something to him at some point. I don’t expect him to slowplay much preflop or on the flop, but I also didn’t think he would jam too aggressively on the turn since the fish usually has two pair or better.

I need 31% equity to make the call. I think the straights are pretty unlikely except maybe Js9s. I’m almost exactly breaking even against a strong range without straights:

The absolute worst case scenarios for me are Js9s or AxJs, against which I’m only 22%. I’m not sure he’s calling Js9s pre-flop or AJo on the flop, though. Of course, any chance of him being on a pure draw improves my equity a lot, though I also think that’s unlikely. All in all, it’s very close, and I’m glad I spite called.
you say you need 31% equity but i have the equity needed at 27.5%. am i missing something?
Notice that Villain had me covered, so the amount I called was less than the amount of his shove. I called 827 and won 2667.

where are you getting $2,667 from in your calculation? the size of the pot entering the turn is $341 then the action goes: BB bets $225, Hero calls $225 and MP ships $1,387. after MP ships the total pot is: $341 + $225 + $225 + $1,387 which totals $2,178.
so Hero needs to risk $827 to win $2,178. the way i compute equity is 2,178/827 which equals 2.63. now i add one to this 2.63 figure and divide by one for this equation: 1/3.63 which comes to 27.5. so we need at least 27.5% equity to correctly call.
don’t want to go off on a tangent as i’m not really discussing the play of the hand but please correct me if i’m wrong.
For one thing, I don’t win Villain’s full $1378, because I have only $1054 left in my stack on the river. The converter shows the final pot to be $2670, and I double-checked that this is correct. $341 on the turn + $225 contributed by the guy who folds river + $1054 from me + $1054 from Villain = $2670. The equity I need is bet/(pot +bet), or 827/2670 = 31%.
Your equation works as well. The pot before my call is $1843, divided by $827 is 2.23. 1/3.23 = 31%.
