Day 3 Preview

Here’s my Day 3 lineup. I’ve never played with Brandon Adams, but from what I’ve heard, he’s very good. I played with Liv last night, she tells me she’s a professional, but I didn’t think she was especially tough. Very nice, though, and achingly beautiful. I can’t say I mind having her at the table one bit. Benvenuti is apparently a pretty successful internet tournament player, though with his current chip stack he won’t be a big threat. Peter Hedlund and Michael Meredith have played several big tournaments around the world this year, but hasn’t done anything significant in any of them.

Brandon Adams 353,600 O04 01
Mirza Nagji 109,200 O04 02
Irvin Hoffman 31,000 O04 03
Michael Benvenuti 21,400 O04 04
Dominic Prunko 86,500 O04 05
Andrew Brokos 65,100 O04 06
Peter Hedlund 61,300 O04 07
Liv Boeree 36,000 O04 08
Michael Meredith 83,000 O04 09

  1. Very exciting and awesome! This has always been one of my favorite blogs, so glad to see you get a chance at a big score! You absolutely have the game to take it down.

  2. keep the run going. Hear what you say about Liv Boeree. I played on the table next to her at GUKPT Manchester and she certainly helps time pass at the table.

  3. Go Andrew! I’ve been follwing your blog and reading your articles for a year and I’m rooting for you!
    Best luck from Iceland.

  4. I also read ur blog every day since months and I am thrilled u got there!!! love ur style incrociamo le dita!, as we say here in Italy!

  5. Yeah that’s definitely him based on the chip count history that you can view by clicking on his name

  6. By a huge coincidence, I just saw Liv Boeree on the game show Golden Balls on ITV in the UK. At the end of the show, she doubled her split share of about £3250 ($6500) to £6500 by stealing her opponent’s share. I don’t understand how a professional poker player is stupid enough to do this on public television: who’s going to do deals with her. Maybe it was a repeat showing and she wasn’t a poker player at the time. But it’s a bad thing for anyone to do. Aching beauty can’t compensate.

  7. To add to my previous comment: no wonder that she is European ambassador for Absolute Poker, of all sites.

  8. “Andrew Brooks”… well, I suppose that’s an improvement over “Anthony Brooks” (see trip report from WSOP 2007).

  9. I think you’re missing the point about the Goldenballs show – if you don’t go for steal you run the risk of them taking everything and you going home with nothing. Have you even read the rules of the game? It’s called the prisoner’s dilemma.

  10. I’ve seen the show many times. First and second round are about bluffing, deception and reading people. The Split or Steal game is basically decency/dignity vs greed. At least half the contestants split although it’s -EV and there can be big sums on the line. A poker player should excel in the first two rounds and then split at the end. If you steal after agreeing (as always both do) to split, you break a deal.

    Found another thread on it:

Last but not least, congratulations to Andrew for a great run. And his poker articles are the best.
