This was a $200 PLO tournament with a $40 bounty. Predictably, there were a ton of people playing trashy hands. I imagine a really good PLO player could have done a lot more to take advantage of that, but the best I could do was tighten up and try to take a few flops in position when I was able. My instinct from NLHE is to make a smaller flop bet, giving the illusion of fold equity in order to induce a check-raise from weaker hands. I had to remind myself that in PLO, the edge that Aces have against “weaker hands” is slim or non-existent and I will often prefer that they fold.
