This is just taking advantage of a really rough spot for my opponent. He’s made it pretty clear he has an overpair, and probably he realizes that that’s what I’ll put him on. So now he just has to play a guessing game as to how often I will raise the turn as a bluff and thus how often he should be folding his overpairs. This isn’t something I advise trying in a tournament or in a 6-max cash game, but full ring cash players are often pretty nitty, meaning that they don’t expect to get bluff-raised on the turn and don’t like to play big pots with one pair, even a good one.
Its the power of position against a solid opponent who knows how to fold.
