My pre-flop call is bad, but this guy pisses me off. He’s generally rather tight, but he LOVES to reraise me. My cards were pretty, so I called. I’m looking to induce a bluff or set up a river value bet by checking turn, but I wasn’t expecting such a big bet from him. This usually one of those polarized range spots where he’s either very strong or very weak, and although the overbet is strong way more often than it is weak, I was expecting a move from him, and I’ve represented a hand that can’t call a shove.
I was not expecting to see AA, though I like the way he played it a lot. It doesn’t take a genius to value bet AA on this river, but the overbet shove with a medium strength hand like this is pretty expert. I’ll have to be more careful against this guy in the future.
Heh, after writing this and before posting it, this hand came up at a different table against the same guy:

Another tough spot I think. The pre-flop cold caller is a decent player as well, so that’s already got me concerned. The flop is an easy check, cuz if I bet basically worse hands fold and better hands call or raise.
Turn is pretty straight-forward also, though maybe a case could be made for raising. If there were more draws, I think a shove to represent a draw could get looked up by TT or something. But the turn really feels like a probe to me, and he knows I’m not calling with nothing, so why is he betting strong on the river? It’s very exploitable if he knows I’m folding a hand as good as AQ here, but I don’t think that’s what he expects me to do, particularly in light of the AA hand posted above. But I dunno, I ran out my time bank before folding, and I’m still not sure it was correct.
