European Poker Tour Monte Carlo, with a 10,000 euro buy-in, boasts the largest prize pool ever in a tournament outside of the USA. Gavin Griffin used to post on the 2+2 forums years ago but largely stopped posting by the time I was a regular there. He’s gone on to have some big successes on the live poker scene, including a win in a $3000 PL Hold ‘Em event at the 2004 World Series of Poker. He comes to the Monte Carlo final table with 2.5 million chips, while none of his opponents have more than 2 million. I’ve never so much as spoken with him, but I’m cheering for him anyway. Gooooooooooo Gavin!
Also at the final table is Josh Prager, who apparently plays on Full Tilt Poker as “Professor Plum”. I recall playing with him on several occasions, sometimes at stakes as low as 2/4 NL. I imagine he’ll be moving up no matter where he finishes at this final table!
